An inflatable sculpture created from plastic tablecloths. This was a group project.
The project was meant to be an installation that would interact with its environment, so we decided making a large sunny-side up egg to place in the dining hall. The process involved drawing out our template on 2 tablecloths, not unlike making a garment, then using an iron, sealing the seams together with heat. Parchment paper was kept between the iron and the plastic to avoid melting the plastic too much. I did most of the cutting and the ironing for the yolks as it was a bit tricky and I had experience from a previous project. The construction of the domes was a bit like a beach ball. We took the finished sculpture across campus to the dining hall and inflated it with a fan.
